Exercise is beneficial for people of all ages, but particularly the elderly as their bones, muscles and joints are naturally beginning to decline in strength in addition to weakening in the heart and lungs. The following are just some of the many benefits to be gained from training as an 'older adult'.
Preventing or delaying the offset of chronic disease such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure in addition to reducing the risk of colon cancer and improving the quality of life for people with arthritis and lung disease.
Monitored resistance training can also improve the quality of life by strengthening muscles, bones, joints and co-ordination. This also reduces the risk of injury from falling.
Regular exercise also increases the immune system, helping to fight off infections and keep the body healthy.
Functional training with resistance equipment and own body weight will improve core stability which in turn will improve posture and daily activities.
