What to expect during your first visit

Initial Get-Together 

Before any workouts can begin, you are required to complete a Pre-exercise Questionnaire as well as a Lifestyle Questionnaire.  If your medical history indicates that further follow-up is required with your GP, your first workout could be slightly delayed. Health and safety is my highest concern therefore once a written consent is obtained, a safe and effective programme can be created. 

Your paperwork should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. It's fun and introspective and may fuel your thinking toward the goals and expectations you have and that we can accomplish together. 

Our initial meeting is provided at no charge. We'll complete any paperwork that is necessary and schedule your first workout when we have cleared up any questions related to your Medical History or Lifestyle forms.

The First Workout

I am sure that this workout will be the beginning of a long term relationship. This workout is the beginning of an ongoing process where we work as a team (client and trainer) to define your interests, desires and goals.  Over a period of time we will outline your programme plan to achieve the results your aiming to achieve.

Many first time exercisers worry that they are unfit prior to seeing a personal trainer, it is my job to progress you slowly and meet you where your health and fitness needs are today. 

Generally, I will not put you through a succession of fitness tests at our first meeting as I believe these are motivational tools and are only relevant when a base level of fitness has been achieved. By asking you to complete the Medical History Form and carefully evaluating your answers, I am certain that I can safely and accurately begin training.  Fitness assessments can be a double edged sword that can straddle personal encouragement or humiliation.  Some tests can even put you at risk of injury if not properly and timely administered.  Fitness testing is an optional tool that is used at my discretion, to motivate you and further tailor your program to meet your individual workout needs.

Clothing and Equipment

You do not have to be wearing the latest gear when we meet. Anything that is stretchy and comfortable with a pair of supportive and functional trainers is all that you need. I provide all equipment.
